The Siracusa Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights hosted the 53rd Executive Committee Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP)

Between April 6th and 8th the Siracusa Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights hosted the 53rd Executive Committee Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP). The three-days meeting took place in Siracusa and witnessed the participation of chief prosecutor of Siracusa, Sabrina Gambino.

On this occasion the Institute and the IAP signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen mutual cooperation and partnership for facilitating capacity-building and technical assistance in supporting with the needs and training of prosecutors and legal practitioners worldwide, promoting high standards and principles of the administration of criminal justice in support of the rule of law, and facilitating the cooperation of international organizations.

The President of the Siracusa Institute, Jean-François Thony, proudly commented the MoU with these words: “The IAP and the SII share a number of ethical values, missions and objectives, like the promotion of the rule of law in criminal justice, the strengthening of international cooperation in criminal matters, the training and specialization of judicial personnel to face new challenges. There is an enormous potential in joining the efforts of the Siracusa Institute, which is one of the most renowned centre of excellence in criminal justice matters, and the worldwide powerful network of prosecutors that the IAP represents.”
