“Tackling Cybercrime: Civil Nature of Losses, Frauds, Forgeries from a Commercial Perspective”

Between June 3 and June 5, 2024, the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, in collaboration with the Supreme Judiciary Council of Qatar, conducted a capacity strengthening program for Qatari judges on “Tackling Cybercrime: Civil Nature of Losses, Frauds, Forgeries from a Commercial Perspective” in Siracusa, Italy. The program brought together Qatari judges, legal professionals, and international experts in the field. During the interactive and practice-oriented sessions, participants examined the nature of cybercrime and its different forms, focusing on the difference between civil and criminal aspects of the phenomenon, investigative techniques used to address online fraud, how cybercrime affects businesses, and legal strategies to protect against commercial cybercrime. The event also served as a platform to promote international collaboration and exchange of best practices to effectively address the criminal and civil aspects of cybercime.
