The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights is proud to announce the signing by our President Jean-François Thony, of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute and the Queen’s University of Belfast.

The agreement establishes a structured framework for long-term collaboration between the two institutions, and is designed to promote joint academic initiatives, including the development of shared teaching programmes, collaborative research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and broader engagement within global networks of legal scholarship and practice.

Signed in the presence of Professor Schabas William, President of our Academic Board, and Prof. Yvonne McDermott Rees, representing the Queens University of Belfast, this marks an important step toward strengthening shared work in international justice and legal education.

Through this MoU, the two institutions aim to deepen cooperation on pressing global challenges in criminal justice and human rights protection, while also enhancing opportunities for interdisciplinary dialogue and capacity-building. The partnership reflects a mutual ambition to contribute to the development of future legal professionals and scholars working in international law and related disciplines.
