SPLIT National Seminar in Italy

01/10/2026

On 21-22 September, the first Italian national seminar of the European project SPLIT brought together in Naples, legal professionals to reflect on the digitalisation of justice as a means of ensuring effective judicial protection and inclusive access. The seminar is part of the project’s first year, which is dedicated to fundamental rights.

The seminar was open to judges, lawyers and judicial officers, and was designed around an interprofessional approach. Its aim was to highlight how closely the different roles are connected: the work of the defence, the decision of the court and the enforcement phase. In particular, it emphasised the link between the quality of the documents and information prepared by lawyers and the ability of judicial officers to give practical effect to a decision.

The methodology was interactive and workshop-based. The main activity was work on practical scenarios in mixed groups, followed by moments of feedback and summary. Through discussion and professional dialogue, participants explored how digital transformation is shaping access to justice, legal safeguards and everyday legal practice, with a strong focus on practical exchange, shared learning and the responsible use of digital tools in justice systems.

This was an important first step in SPLIT’s national training pathway. The SPLIT National Seminars will continue soon in other countries, offering more opportunities for legal professionals to exchange, learn and reflect on digital justice in practice.

The Siracusa International Institute is proud to support SPLIT and to be part of this project.

The EU project SPLIT has been co-funded by the European Commission under the G.A No. 101249321.
