25th Specialization Course in International Criminal Law for Young Penalists Officially Opens in Siracusa

The 25th Specialization Course in International Criminal Law for Young Penalists officially opened today at the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights.

This year’s course, dedicated to “International Criminal Justice, Crimes Against Humanity, and Transitional Justice,” brings together young professionals, researchers, and advanced students from around the world for an intensive programme of lectures and discussions led by internationally renowned experts.

The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by the President of the Siracusa International Institute, Jean-François Thony, followed by an inaugural address by the Course Director, Professor William Schabas. The ceremony concluded with greetings from Francesco Italia, Mayor of Siracusa, who welcomed participants to the city.

The course will continue over the next six days in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation, and will explore key contemporary challenges in international criminal justice and transitional justice.
