From December 4 to 14, 2023, the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights was honored to be part of the 22nd session of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Our delegation, involving the President and the Director General of the Institute, Jean-François Thony and Filippo Musca, actively engaged with States Parties, Observer States, the Court, and several international organizations.
Notably, our presence was a significant highlight, building on the success of the Symposium “Strategic Vision for the Next Decade: How to Ensure Consistent and Sustainable Support for the International Criminal Court and Declaration of Siracusa held in October 2023″.
Mentioned several times during the sessions, the Symposium and Declaration played a pivotal role, showcasing the Institute’s commitment to advancing criminal justice and human rights.
The event marked a crucial milestone, emphasizing the enduring collaboration between the Siracusa International Institute and the International Criminal Court, especially on the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute.
During the Assembly’s General debate, ministers, international organizations, and NGO representatives enriched the discussions, reinforcing our collective dedication to the cause.
It was a remarkable experience, symbolizing the strength of our partnership with the International Criminal Court and the Assembly of States Parties.
Looking forward to continued collaboration and impactful initiatives!
