On 8–9 May 2026, The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights participated in the 17th Annual Conference and General assembly of the Network of Public Prosecutors or equivalent institutions at the Supreme Judicial Courts of the Member States of the European Union (NADAL Network), held in Brussels under the theme “The Rule of Law under Pressure”.
Organised by the Prosecutor General’s Office at the Court of Cassation of Belgium under the Presidency of Ms Ria Mortier, the Conference addressed current challenges affecting the Rule of Law and judicial institutions in Europe.
Represented by its President, Jean-François Thony, and Deputy Director General, Céline Viguier, the Institute took part in the Conference and related exchanges.

The Conference also marked an important milestone for the Network with the unanimous adoption of amendments to the Articles of Association formally recognising the role of the Siracusa International Institute in supporting the Secretariat General of the Network.
The Institute warmly thanks the Belgian Presidency of the Network, congratulates the incoming Finnish Presidency and looks forward to continuing to support the Network in the next phase of its development.
