Workshops on “Crisis Management” and “Crowds and International Demonstrations Management”

19/11/2024

From November 18-22, 2024, the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, in collaboration with the Naif Arab University for Security Studies (NAUSS), is conducting two specialised workshops on “Crisis Management” and “Crowd and International Demonstrations Management” in Rome, Italy. Held at the Interagency Law Enforcement Academy of Advanced Studies, this event gathers 53 senior police officers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia along with distinguished experts in security and law enforcement.

The workshop on Crisis Management aims to deepen participants’ understanding of the complex dimensions of security crisis management and equip them to address both current and emerging challenges at the local, regional, and global levels. Key topics include defining the scope of crisis management, examining the impact of cybersecurity threats, leveraging technology and innovation, and sharing practical case studies in crisis response.

Meanwhile, the workshop on Crowd and International Demonstrations Management will address the challenges of managing large-scale demonstrations in an international context. What influences crowd behaviour, what are the best practices for communicating with demonstrators, what are the models for maintaining security in high-risk situations are factors that will be explored by participants. Fostering cooperation between government agencies, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to ensure balanced and effective crowd management will be a key aspect of this workshop.

During the events, participants will have the opportunity to exchange insights, learn from global best practices, and develop advanced skills in crisis and crowd management, ultimately contributing to enhanced international cooperation and public safety.
