On 6 November 2018,  The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights hosted the 6th Steering Committee Meeting  of the Project “Raising Awareness and Staff MObility on RADicalisation in Prison and Probation services” (RASMORAD P&P), at its headquarters in Siracusa.

The project is funded by the European Union’s Justice Programme and the Siracusa International Institute is one of the scientific partners of the project, together with IRPS – Istituto Psicoanalitico per le Ricerche Sociali (IT) and the West University of Timisoara (RO).

Participants were welcomed this morning by Mr. Filippo Musca, Acting Director General of the Institute, represented also by Ms. Stefania Lentinello, Program Officer, and Ms. Delphine Verheyde, Project Consultant and External Consultant of the Siracusa International Institute.

The Steering Committee focused on the strategy for the development and implementation of the National Guidelines to counter radicalization, as well as on how to enhance cooperation among all the partners involved in the project.

The overall purpose of RASMORAD is the prevention of radicalisation in prisons, mainly by adopting specific preventative measures, developing risk assessment methodology, strengthening expertise in the identification of risks, and enhancing professional competences of prison and probation staff in order to implement exit strategies before release.
