Today, the Institute remembers its founder and longstanding former President, the late Professor M. Cherif Bassiouni.
Two years after his passing, Professor Bassiouni continues to show the way to each of us and remains an invaluable source of inspiration for the Institute. His legacy as ‘The Father of International Criminal Law’ continues to leave an indelible mark which guides the mission of the Institute every day and its commitment to promote hashtaghumanrights and make hashtagjustice a concrete reality worldwide.
For his first anniversary, the Institute held a Memorial Ceremony at its headquarters, in the presence, amongst others, of the President of the Italian Republic. On that occasion, the main conference room of the Institute was named ‘M. Cherif Bassiouni Centre‘ and a commemorative plaque was unveiled before the President of the Republic and the President of the Institute.
