Mr. Mark Ellis elected President of the Board of Directors of ILAC

On September 2nd, 2021, Mr. Mark Ellis, Executive Director of the International Bar Association (IBA) has been elected President of the Board of Directors of the International Legal Assistance Consortium (ILAC) in succession to Elizabeth Howe at the ILAC’s Annual General Meeting.

ILAC is a consortium of over 50 professional legal organizations and experts from all over the world which aims to strengthen the independence of justice sector institutions and rebuild workable justice systems that are based on the rule of law and the protection of human rights in conflict-affected and fragile countries. For this mission, ILAC works in close partnership with judges, prosecutors, court administrators and lawyers’ associations from all over the world.

The Institute was officially elected as a member of the consortium at its Annual General Meeting at the International House of Japan (Tokyo), on May 12th, 2017.

The Siracusa International Institute sincerely congratulates President Mark Ellis, wishing him every success in his new duties and thanks Ms, Elizabeth Howe for her outstanding work during her 6-year tenure presidency.
