The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights was present this week (1–5 December) at the Assembly of States Parties (ASP) of the International Criminal Court (ICC). The ASP is the annual meeting of the States Parties to the Rome Statute, where they discuss key matters related to the functioning and future of the Court.
Our participation in the ASP reflects our long-standing and ongoing commitment to supporting the work of the ICC.
The Siracusa International Institute is also member of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC), a global network of civil society organizations committed to advancing international justice and the fight against impunity.
This year’s session provided the opportunity to attend several high-level side events on the International Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes Against Humanity, the situations in Guinea and The Gambia, and the rights of the defence before the ICC.
These discussions provided an occasion to engage with partners on ongoing projects in international criminal justice and to reaffirm our strong support for the ICC and its staff in these challenging times for international justice.
