The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights is pleased to announce important appointments to its governing bodies, marking a significant step in further strengthening our mission to uphold international justice, the rule of law, and human rights.
We are delighted to announce that Jean-François Thony has been re-elected as President of the Siracusa International Institute, continuing his exemplary leadership. “As we navigate these difficult times, I look to the future with unwavering passion, hope, and determination. The Siracusa International Institute stands ready to confront these global challenges, fostering innovation, collaboration, and impactful solutions. Together, we will continue to advance our mission of strengthening international criminal justice and human rights in a world that so urgently claims it”, he stated.
We are also pleased to welcome several new members to our Board of Directors: Amélie Becquart, Els De Busser, Zlata Durdevic, Stefano Manacorda, and Kanako Takayama. Together with the 11 confirmed members, their collective expertise, commitment, and vision will enable the Institute to achieve even greater success in the years ahead.
The Institute’s Advisory Board has also been strengthened by the appointment of six new members: Mariano Federici, Ambassador Jean-Paul Laborde, Jean-Luc Lemahieu, Michael Kelly, Jeanette Manning, and Patrick Stevens. Furthermore, it is also our pleasure to reaffirm ICC Vice-President Rosario Aitala’s membership.
In addition to these appointments, we are proud to announce the establishment of a new Academic Board. This body will strengthen the Institute’s academic foundation and provide critical insight into research and intellectual initiatives. The Academic Board comprises Steven Becker, Shane Darcy, Dire Tladi, Carlos Eduardo A. Japiassú, André Klip, Yvonne McDermott Rees, Schabas William (Chair), Xiumei Wang, and Jan Wouters.
These new appointments, together with the continued commitment of existing members, mark an exciting new phase for the Siracusa International Institute. Their combined expertise will enhance the Institute’s academic and professional contributions to the field of international law.
