The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, in collaboration with the Supreme Judiciary Council of Qatar, organized a Specialization Training Seminar on “Artificial Intelligence, Criminal Justice, and Human Rights” in Siracusa, Italy, between 10-13 July 2023. The Training Seminar brought together Qatari Judges, lawyers, and AI experts who engaged in presentations and discussions to explore the integration of AI in criminal justice. Sessions addressed specific topics, such as the nature and scope of artificial intelligence and its underlying algorithms; the human rights risks, impacts, and related issues that AI presents to modern society; the opportunities and risks that AI and related technologies present to modern criminal justice systems and their limits. The event also fostered international collaboration and the exchange of best practices in this important emerging field.
