The Siracusa International Institute works with national and regional authorities, intergovernmental bodies, civil society organizations, and independent researchers to conducts research on new and emerging threats to international peace and security, with focus on the global implications of transnational organised crime.
The Siracusa International Institute works with national and regional authorities, intergovernmental bodies, civil society organizations, and independent researchers to conducts research on new and emerging threats to international peace and security, with focus on the global implications of transnational organised crime.
Additionally, the Institute provides legal and policy analysis to assist states in preventing and suppressing transnational crimes through joined-up approaches, and develops international recommendations and guidelines when needed. The Institute often partners with and supports initiatives of European Union as well as United Nations agencies, including in West Africa, the Balkans and the Middle East. The Institute has particular expertise in the practical application of legal, policy and enforcement responses to transnational organised crime, corruption, and illicit finance in fragile, conflict-affected and transitional settings.
