A new navigation section entirely dedicated to the memoirs of Professor M. Cherif Bassiouni will be available in September on the Institute’s website. This section will contain various documents, speeches, video interviews and photographs of Professor Bassiouni relating to his life and to his immense work in favour of international criminal justice and human rights.
These documents integrate its posthumous book entitled “A man of many flags: memoirs of a war crimes investigator”, which is available for purchase at this link.
The documents trace a synthetic cross-section of the main works conducted by Professor Bassiouni in various countries (Afghanistan, Bahrain, Libya, etc.) as part of his duties within the United Nations and include materials related to his engagement in favour of the establishment of the International Criminal Court as well as the adoption of important international conventions, including the United Nations Convention against Torture (UNCAT) in 1984.
