Twinning Project on “Capacity Building Activities in Support of the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and Transitional Justice”
Between November 2015 and October 2018, the Siracusa International Institute was ad hoc mandated body of the Italian Ministry of Justice for a project on “Capacity Building Activities in Support of the Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and Transitional Justice in Tunisia“, conducted by the Spanish Ministry of Justice, represented by Fundación Internacional y para Iberoamérica de Administración y Políticas Públicas (FIIAPP); the Italian Ministry of Justice was the junior partner of Spain. The overall objective of the project was to contribute to the independence and effectiveness of justice in accordance with European and international standards, in particular by strengthening the institutional capacity, management and organization of the Tunisian Ministry of Justice and courts.
The Institute coordinated the participation of 42 Italian experts to the 31 missions of experts which took place in Tunis. Additionally, the Institute facilitated the organization of 3 study visits and 4 administrative internships to the relevant Italian judiciary institutions for delegations from the Tunisian Ministry of Justice.
Twinning Project on “Support to Training of the Justice Sector Personnel”
Between October 2015 and July 2018, the Siracusa International Institute was ad hoc mandated body of the Italian High School of the Judiciary (SSM) for a project dedicated to “Support to Training of the Justice Sector Personnel in Tunisia“, conducted by the French Ministry of Justice and the French National School of the Judiciary (ENM), represented by Justice Coopération Internationale (JCI); the Italian High School of the Judiciary (SSM) was junior partner of France. The overall objective of the project was to strengthen the effectiveness and independence of the judiciary in accordance with European and international standards, in particular by improving the capacities and skills of the justice sector personnel through strengthening the Tunisian High Institute of the Judiciary (Institut Supérieur de la Magistrature – ISM).
The Institute coordinated the participation of 15 Italian experts to the 15 missions of experts which took place in Tunis. Additionally, the Institute facilitated the organization of 1 study visit and 2 administrative internships to the relevant Italian judiciary institutions for delegations from the Tunisian High Institute of the Judiciary.
