Francesca Amerio received her B.A in Political Science – International Relations in 2009 and her MA in International Development – Economics from “La Sapienza” University in Rome in 2012 with a final dissertation on the main Syrian opposition leaders involved in the ongoing conflict, spending one year both at Sciences Po Paris and at Yale University, where she further pursued her research on the sequencing of transitional justice process in post-conflict situations.
Before joining the Siracusa Institute as a research fellow, Francesca worked as a Project Assistant with the International Organization for Migration – IOM, Office in Italy (2010-2012), and in a shelter for Iraqi women with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Damascus, Syria (2010). She has also written several articles on the Syrian conflict for the Italian Geopolitical Magazine – Limes. She has lived in Belgium, France, Russia, Syria, Turkey and the United States.
