Between April 15th and 21st, The Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights is holding the sixth and final retreat session of the Training of Trainers Program (ToT) for Egyptian judges, prosecutors and officers of the Technical Office of the Court of Cassation at its headquarters.

The ToT is one of the most significant activities of the Siracusa International Institutes’ three-year Technical Assistance Project in Egypt, which is mainly aimed at fostering the effective functioning of the justice sector in the country and at enhancing the promotion of the rule of law and human rights. The project was launched in 2014 with the support of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).

This retreat session involves 23 selected participants, who were welcomed at the opening ceremony by Mr. Filippo Musca, Deputy Director of the Institute, and by Counsellor Cherif Atlam, Chief Justice at the Cairo Court of Appeal and the Siracusa International Institute’s National Project Coordinator.

As stressed by Mr. Musca during the opening ceremony, the working days of this final ToT session mainly focus on practical and operational aspects related to the implementation of international criminal law and international human rights law in the Arab world countries, as well as on human rights reporting and drafting skills.
