Filippo Musca, Deputy Director of the Siracusa International Institute for Criminal Justice and Human Rights, attended today in Brussels the workshop on “Risk Assessment” as part of the project Raising Awareness and Staff MObility on RADicalisation in Prison and Probation services” (RASMORAD P&P) funded by the European Union’s Justice Programme.

The Siracusa International Institute is one of the scientific partners of the project, together with IRPS – Istituto Psicoanalitico per le Ricerche Sociali (IT) and the West University of Timisoara (RO).

The working sessions of the workshop focused mainly on the challenges for risk assessment and violent radicalization, with an overview on the British, Belgian and French experiences, and with a closing discussion on the presented approaches.

The overall purpose of the project is the prevention of radicalisation in prisons, mainly by adopting specific preventative measures, developing risk assessment methodology, strengthening expertise in the identification of the risk, and enhancing prison and probation staffs’ professional competences in order to implement exit strategies before release.

Mr. Musca already attended in the previous months the Kick-Off Meeting  and the 2nd Steering Committee of the Project in Rome.
